Course Description

Information Quality (IQ) is widely accepted as a critical issue on the corporate agenda. Improved IQ leads to increased organizational productivity, reduced costs, higher Return on Investment (ROI) and increased market share. The Chief Data Officer, IQ VP’s, directors, managers, and analysts alike are tasked with the delivery of high-quality data for effective decision-making.

This training program, Information Quality: Principles & Foundations, is designed to provide a foundational understanding of what IQ is and why it is important. We will present the landscape of the IQ field, the roles and responsibilities of the Chief Data Officer, VP of IQ, IQ director, manager, and analyst. Participants will learn how to manage information as a product, how to develop an Information Product Map (IPMAP) for the lifecycle management of the information product, and how to develop IQ policy, procedures, guidelines to institutionalize IQ program in their organizations.

IQ professionals need to understand the underlying technical background, in particular topics related to database systems in order to collaborate with their technical peers who are data custodians and key IQ stakeholders. Accordingly, we will cover the concepts of the Entity Relationship model, the Relational database normalization, and how to use SQL queries to perform data quality analysis.

Participants are strongly encouraged to develop a real-world project that will be of direct and immediate value to their organization. In addition to the certificate issued for completion of this training program, a second certificate will be awarded to those who demonstrate successful implementation of the principles and foundations in their project in their chosen organization (completed within 12 months).

IQ: Principles & Foundations will prove invaluable to corporate executives who need to hire excellent IQ managers and analysts.
